Zemlinsky Quartet & Brussels Muzieque

Join Brussels Muzieque on May 10th, 2026 for an exceptional chamber music evening featuring the Zemlinsky Quartet, joined by Brussels Muzieque artists Nadja Nevolovitsch, Elina Buksha, Monika Mlynarczyk, and Eduardo Tonietto, in a programme devoted to large-scale masterpieces of the string ensemble repertoire.

The concert will take place in the Caryatide Hall at Cercle Royal Gaulois in Brussels. The programme brings together Mendelssohn’s String Octet in E-flat major, Op. 20, one of the most dazzling and youthful achievements in chamber music history, and Schoenberg’s String Sextet Verklärte Nacht, a work of extraordinary emotional depth and harmonic richness that stands at the threshold between late Romanticism and musical modernity.

Also featured is a special arrangement by Belgian composer Walter Hus of the Prelude from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, reimagined for string sextet. This unique transcription distills Wagner’s iconic harmonic language into an intimate chamber setting, offering a fresh perspective on one of the most influential works in music history.

This concert is part of an international collaboration, with the same programme being performed the week before in Prague, strengthening artistic exchange and continuity between European concert stages.

An evening of rich sonorities, emotional intensity, and expansive chamber music, bringing together eight outstanding string players for a rare and immersive musical experience.
